My class is English with Mr. Licata. What I learn in this class is vocabulary, Reading, Writing, speaking and listening. This is valuable for my future because to sound professional I need to have good vocabulary. For, reading I need to read correctly to speak it correctly. In, class our teacher assigned us to write a persuasive argument essay based on the immigration topic we chose. The topic I used was “Should immigrants who are in the country illegally be allowed to remain in the US?” My essay will explain if immigrants should still migrated to the US.
My artifact is an essay based on the topic we we’re supposed to choose which was “Should immigrants who are in the country illegally be allowed to remain in the US?” The project instructions where to go into a website and choose a topic based on immigration. We answered it on our essay about our opinion towards it. The process I went through was that I got facts from the internet and videos from YouTube that came together to relation of my topic. I made sure to write down all my sources and all my facts. I failed at doing a good thesis statement because I could have been clearer about it I could have shown the main point of my essay little more obvious. In the book we read I learned how to see people in hastily because it shows to never give up, many people have suffered more than other people. One of the SLO skills I mastered was “Mastering skills needed in career and college” I believed I mastered this skill because what I need for college was my vocabulary, my understanding of the topic, and evidence that supports my claims. Another skill I mastered was “Self Directed learner who communicates effectively” I communicated effectively with all my sources. I checked to see if I was in plagiarizing in any way. The artifacts demonstrated my success from the two SLO, They are important because for college I need to be prepared with my vocabulary, to have communicated effectively helps me because I'll know where to look for help. One. In conclusion two of the most important things I learned this year was to make it a thesis statement more clear and to keep my grades up with Mr. Licata and not turn any late work. In the future this will help me by my next essay because it will help me get a better grade, and it will make my essay 10 times better. |
During the English class of Mr. Licata, we read a book as a class. The book we read was called speak by Laurie Anderson. The learning objectives were for us to read the book, and at the end write a essay. This is valuable to my future because reading and writing helps us improve on our skills. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for English had the following learning objectives was to be able to understand Melinda and analyze the book. The assignment was to read the book as a class and every Marking Period we each got a packet with questions about what happened in the book and activities relating it. After we finished the book we had to do a essay about speaking up. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with doing my packets, turning them in on time.
Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned to write better because my essay scores are better. This tells me about myself that I can learn and feel what Melina was feeling throughout the book. The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are Self Directed learner who communicates effectively because I related to Melinda. I also Mastered skills needed in career and college because I need them to write essays and other important papers. I have demonstrated Self Directed learner who communicates effectively in the artifact by demonstrating my writing. This is important because when I am in college I will have better writing skills. I could have improved Thinking critically and creatively better by thinking of better ideas for my essay and better quotes. Overall the the most important things I have learned in this class this year are to write better and read better. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by knowing how to site my sources and more. |
