This class is Math II and the math concept I would like to reflect on is the introduction to the quadratic formula. What I have learned during this lesson is solving quadratic equations by completing the square. This was valuable because we had 2 other units talking about quadratic formulas and how to solve them and how they connect with squares. This lesson was definitely difficult at the beginning, I felt like I couldn't learn it until I asked my teacher Mrs.Manabe and she gave me some help along with some of my peers. WHen I finally got it it was helpful at the moment and later on because then I finally got it and way able to solve for x.
The math skills that this required was to be able to solve for x. We had to make sure that there were two real solutions, one real solution, and lastly, no real solutions. The process I went through to succeed was that I had to write an equation in standard form, then I had to identify the values of abc. The third step I had to take is to substitute the value of abc. Lastly I had to simplify the quadratic formula. I learned how to do all that is listed above. I had a hard time learning it at first then I learned it after Mrs. Manabe and her helper Jasmine helped me. What this work say about myself is that I can be able to ask for help when I need it. The two SOL’s I have mastered this semester in math is being a Self Directed learner who communicates effectively because I communicated with my peers to ask for help and with my teachers. THe second SLO I demonstrated would be Thinking critically and creatively because when I didn’t have help I had to use my notes to be able to understand things clearly. THe SLO i could’ve mastered better in this project is Representing self, school and community through personal responsibility and global citizenship, because since I didn’t get it at first, I had to struggle and I wasn’t able to help people around me when they asked. The Two most important things I learned in this class this year is how to solve for x and how to read the linear equation system graphs. These skills will elp me in the future for my classes in college. |
This class is math, with Mrs. Manabe. What I learned in Mrs. Manabe's class was how to take good notes. It will help me in the future because I will know how to take notes. We learned in an online course called Edgenuity. It all starts with the warm-up which warms us up for the lesson. The next one is instruction, instruction tells us what to do and describes the topic and while the teacher is speaking our job is to take notes on our notebook for it to help for future assignments.
After that we have an assignment, our assignment asks questions about what we learned in instruction. The last one is the quiz, the quiz helps our teacher understand if we watched and took good notes on instruction. We go through all this process in every lesson. After a few lessons we finish the unit we have a unit test, the unit test helps your teacher know if we were paying good attention to all the lessons. The process I went through to succeed was to take very good notes and make sure they are available for your quizzes and tests. This work represents me because it is all my hard work. I think I am representing self, school and community through personal responsibility and global citizenship because I am explaining what I have been doing in school. I think I am thinking critically and creatively because I was creative about my notes and designed them however I wanted them to be. |
